Coming to and settling in the U.S. can be challenging for immigrant families, especially when they try to preserve their cultures and traditions. Though parents are not the ones that struggle in maintaining their cultural identities; it is usually their children. And when parents notice that their child is not adhere to their parents’ cultural norms, it becomes frustrating for parents.
In order to address this issue, Lehigh Dialogue Center organized a talk titled “Immigrant Communities and American Values”. The talk was given by Tiffany Chang Lawson, the Executive Director of Governor Tom Wolf’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs. The event took place on September 15, 2017. As expected, immigrant parents in the community attended the event in large numbers in order to get a grasp on the issue.
