Feast of Sacrifice

Feast of Sacrifice is one the major celebrations in Islam. It commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his obedience to God by willing to sacrifice his son and how he is sent a ram to sacrifice instead.

The date of Feast of Sacrifice is determined based on Hijri or Islamic calendar. This year, in 2017, the date of Feast of Sacrifice was September 1. Muslims in the community convened at Lehigh Dialogue Center to celebrate the holiday. Cattle and sheep were slaughtered. A playground was set for children to play at.
