Friendship Dinners
Every year around Christmas, Lehigh Valley witnesses one the major events of Lehigh Dialogue Center – The Friendship Dinner, where people with different beliefs and religions convene to celebrate the unity of all religions. Every year, one pernicious topic is picked to be addressed through diverse perspectives.
The 14th Annual Friendship Dinner
This year’s event, the 14th Annual Friendship Dinner was held at Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel & Conference Center in Bethlehem on December 7, 2017. The topic of this year’s event was “Healing the Effects of Mass Incarceration“. The keynote speaker was Robert Reed, Executive Deputy Attorney General of PA.
“Healing the Effects of Mass Incarceration”
During the event, the issue of mass incarceration was addressed, specifically, how imposing policies to prevent crimes might turn out to be counterproductive to the society. The speakers took turns in sharing what was known about the issue and its negative impacts on the societies. The main purpose was to find out ways to mitigate those who are affected by this the most.
